Dr. Paul A. Chace,
long time resident of Farmington, has opened a new pet hospital,
Advanced Veterinary Care, in the West Woods corner of Farmington, on
Route 6.
A native New Englander, Dr. Chace
graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in
1985 and completed an Internship at the Veterinary Specialists of
Connecticut, in West Hartford, to further develop his medical and
surgical skills. Dr. Chace has practiced in central Connecticut for the
past 19-years and most recently for CT Veterinary Clinic (CVC), one of
the State’s top 24-Hour Emergency Clinics in West Hartford. Prior to
CVC, Dr. Chace spent most of his career at the Old Canal Veterinary
Clinic in Plainville, providing advanced medical, surgical and emergency
care for dogs, cats and exotic pets. His areas of special interest
include orthopedics, endoscopy, surgery and exotic pet medicine and
surgery.
In addition to cats and dogs, Dr. Chace
has knowledge and experience treating “exotic” pets which, by
definition, includes birds, rabbits, reptiles, ferrets, guinea pigs,
hamsters, gerbils and prairie dogs. Other species he has experience
with include mice, rats, African hedge hogs, chinchillas, sugar gliders,
primates and pot bellied pigs!
Dr. Chace’s professional memberships
include The American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut
Veterinary Medical Association, the Hartford County Veterinary
Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Association
of Exotic Mammalian Veterinarians, the Association of Amphibian and
Reptilian Veterinarians, the American Ferret Association, and the House
Rabbit Society. During his career, Dr. Chace has worked with many
animal rescue groups treating their foster animals including the House
Rabbit Connection of Springfield Massachusetts.
Dr. Chace looks forward to bringing his
advanced medical and surgical skills to his hometown of Farmington and
its surrounding communities, to continue his lifelong commitment to the
protection and care for our animals.
